Ads for credit repair scams are everywhere. They may promise to create a new identity for you, or erase your bad credit, even if the items on the credit report are accurate. There is absolutely that a credit repair agency can do for you that you can’t do for yourself. There are free information online, you may call the credit bureau, you may also call The Mortgage Guru or buy books that will show you how to dispute any inaccurate or outdated items on your credit report. It is against the law to create a new identity for yourself or charge you an advance fee for anyone to help you repair your credit. It is a federal crime to misrepresent your social security number, and obtain an Employer Identification Number (EIN) under false pretenses.
